Years ago I held a very popular contest called "The Game That Never Ends" in which the last commenter on the journal received a free commission. I'm revisiting that game, with the hope to inspire both myself, and many other deviantart members.
PLEASE READ CAREFULLYMany of you don't know this about me, but I love haiku poetry. The simplicity holds an understated elegance, and allows so many interpretations. The limitations of structure are almost freeing in that one can convey an impression without getting hung up on detail. In other words, haiku inspires me and I want to make a game out of it and share the inspiration!
I often write my own haiku, but I'd like to hear some of yours. It can be random, silly, whimsical, sad, abstract, accidental, or deliberate. As long as it follows the rules, it's fair game.
The last person to post a haiku on this journal will win a free illustration of that haiku. Simple! RULES
Haiku must be original to you, no plagiarism (old haiku is fine though, as long as it's yours).
Only the last haiku posted on this journal will win. This could take a while. Time frame is subject to change if things get crazy.
Other comments are fine (especially replies and feeback on other haikus), but not eligible for the prize.
Haiku must follow the most common 5- 7- 5 syllable rule. (First line has 5 syllables, second line has 7, third line has 5)
Winning illustration will be entirely up to my interpretation, and will link back to the winner's dA page. I will even feature the winner and his/her haiku in a journal entry.
Be creative!
